In the case of refillable pod kits, e-liquids are usually sold separately. On the other hand, pre-filled pod kits typically come with a couple of pre-filled pods, making it easy to get vaping almost straight away.

Prefilled Pod Kits

Also known as closed pod vape kits, prefilled pod kits are a hassle free way to vape. These pods are pre-filled usually with a nic salt e-liquid. To use a prefilled pod kit just pop a pod in and start vaping straight away.

The simple design of these kits make them ideal for beginner vapers, as well as those who lead busy lives and travel a lot. The pods being pre-filled mean you don't need to carry heavy bottles of e-liquid around/ refill pods manually.

Refillable pod kits

Refillable pod kits are also referred to as open pod kits, these kits can be tailored to suit your own personal vaping preferences. You can add e-liquid from any brand and choose your own replacement coil from a range of different ohms. This can alter factors like nicotine strength, cloud density, and flavour intensity.

Some refillable pod kits can be further enhanced with the usage of high powered mods, allowing you control over a range of variables such as wattage, temperature and output.

Despite them being slightly more complex, refillable kits are still fairly easy to use, and can be used in a beginner friendly way. For example, replacement coils can be integrated rather than replaceable, meaning you do not have to replace it yourself as it is longer lasting and part of the vape itself rather than the pod.

Choosing an e-liquid

The e-liquid you choose for your vape kit will depend heavily on the style of vaping you want to do:

Mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping requires a balanced 50-50 VG-PG e-liquid. Many MTL vapers opt for nic salt e-liquids for their balanced ratio and high nicotine content. Nic salts also absorb into the body quickly, making this experience the most similar to smoking.

Direct to Lung (DTL) vaping requires a high VG e-liquid, usually over 70, as well as very low or no nicotine. This is because vegetable glycerin is less harsh on the lungs whereas nicotine can feel harsh on the lungs and throat when inhaled directly. Usually DTL vapers use shortfill e-liquids due to their high VG and low/ 0 nicotine content.

Restricted direct to lung(RDL) inhalation is a combination of mtl and dtl styles. With this method you can use a wider range of e-liquids at different VG/PG ratios and nicotine contents.

What is shortfill e-liquid?

Shortfill e-liquids are high VG low PG vape juices with low or no nicotine added. These e-liquids are used in sub ohm, DTL vaping.

What is nic salt e-liquid?

Nic salt e-liquids are treated with benzoic acid, creating a smooth throat hit at higher nicotine concentrations. For this reason, nic salt e-liquids typically contain 10mg or 20mg of nicotine.

Do all e-liquids contain VG and PG?

Yes, VG and PG(vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol) are the base ingredients of all e-liquids.

Does sunlight affect e-liquid?

Direct sunlight exposure can greatly increase the speed at which your e-liquid degrades, leading to decreased nicotine content, flavour loss and a change in the consistency of the e-liquid.

Does e-liquid expire?

Yes, e-liquid does expire, usually around 1-2 years after manufacture. Most e-liquids feature a use by date on the bottle so be sure to check this before usage.
