Vaping
Switching to vaping can be an intimidating process as you’re delving into an unknown world with a multitude of information to process. You’re likely to have a range of different questions. Take a look at our Ultimate Vaping Starter Guide which has everything you need to get you on your way.
All recent studies point to the fact that vaping is better than smoking. With Public Health England stating that electronic cigarettes are 95% safer than smoking and Cancer Research UK supporting vaping in the fight against smoking relating diseases. Of course, inhaling anything other than fresh air isn't entirely safe, however vaping is a less harmful alternative to smoking.
With cigarette prices steadily on the rise, now is the perfect time to save some money, whilst leading a healthier lifestyle. According to a new poll, smokers who have switched to vaping ‘save on average £346.32 a year after kicking the habit’.
Absolutely. According to Public Health England, “An estimated 2.9 million adults in Great Britain currently use e-cigarettes, and of these, 1.5 million people have completely stopped smoking cigarettes”. So why can’t that be you?
E-Liquid
Our e-liquids are comprised of four main ingredients. Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerine (VG), Flavouring & Nicotine (optional). That's it, no dodgy chemicals in our liquids!
Each of our liquids are fully CLP, MHRA & TPD compliant and are manufactured under the strictest conditions, to food grade standards, in our very own ISO Class 8 cleanroom. Every batch of e-liquid that we produce undergoes meticulous GC-MS testing to ensure that it is entirely safe for consumption.
PG stands for propylene glycol and VG stands for vegetable glycerin, these are the base ingredients of e-liquid. PG is generally a much thinner substance and carries flavouring well. It is used in a variety of supermarket food products. VG is a natural mixing agent that gives the e-liquid its viscosity. The amount of VG within an e-liquid will control the amount of vapour that you can produce. E-liquids for sub-ohm vape kits will have more VG ratio, while e-liquids for pods and pen-style e-cigarettes will have 50/50 or a more PG heavy ratio.
This is a difficult one to answer as each vaper has different preferences. Why not try one of our Nicotine Tester Packs in order to get a feel of which e-liquid strength is best for you? For more information, you can also look at our Ultimate Vaping Starter Guide or visit your local Ecigwizard store where you can test different flavours & strengths before you make a decision.
E-Cigarettes
An electronic cigarette is a battery-operated device that emits doses of vaporised nicotine, or non-nicotine solutions, for the user to inhale. It aims to provide a similar sensation to inhaling tobacco smoke, without the smoke.
This depends on a number of factors and personal preferences. Have a look at our Starter Kits or Ultimate Vaping Starter Guide for advice.
Batteries
Typically a battery will last between 2-4 days, however, this depends entirely on how much you vape, the settings used and the capacity of the battery. More powerful batteries will last longer, whilst the less powerful batteries will need to be charged more often. Most devices will have an indicator to let you know when your battery is running low.
You can find out which battery you need by reviewing your e-cigarette's user manual. You can find replacement batteries on our website and in-store. A lot of devices feature a built-in battery, meaning you don't need to purchase a separate battery.
A built-in battery is one that is integrated into your device and cannot be removed. These batteries are ideal for easy charging.
These are batteries that can be removed from the device. Removable batteries are great for vapers who are always on the move as you can carry a spare charged pair with you. Removable batteries can be purchased here.
Internal batteries are typically charged using a USB cable and a power source. Check your user manual for further instructions.
Removable batteries are charged via a battery charging kit, which can be purchased here. Many devices that use removable batteries can also be charged via USB.
Troubleshooting
Coils can be changed as often as you like. They can be changed when you notice a decrease in flavour, or until they completely stop working! Normally you will be able to tell from the taste (burnt, loss of flavour etc.) when it is time for them to change the coil.
This is either because you have the settings on your e-cig too high for the coil installed, or it needs replacing. Replace your coil with a new one, turn your settings down and try again after priming the coil. Also, there may simply not be enough liquid in your tank or the liquid is too thick for the coil to absorb.
Leaking tanks can be a symptom of the coil reaching the end of its natural life. Ensure it is replaced and primed, then try again.
A leaking tank could also be due to damaged seals, hairline fractures in the tank or the wrong PG/VG e-liquid ratio. Additionally, if you are using a low resistance coil, ensure that you are putting enough power through it to avoid any leakage.
Check that your settings are optimum for the coil installed and ensure it hasn’t reached the end of its natural life. If it has, replace it. Make sure your battery is fully charged and take a slow steady draw. Check that the coil & tank are fully connected to the device and there’s nothing (pocket fluff) blocking the connection.
This can sometimes happen if the coil has flooded, the cartridge overfilled, or if the e-cig has been drawn on too hard. If you get e-liquid in your mouth, promptly wash it out with water. It isn’t harmful, but it may leave a bitter taste in your mouth. To clear the airflow, turn the device off and gently blow through the mouthpiece. This will push any excess liquid out through the air intake holes in your device. Have a tissue at the ready!
