- Luv in itReview by Mark
I am impressed.
After opening the box I was faced with what I think is a quality looking device. The mod feels strong and well made. The battery ‘AW 18650’ (Bought separately) fits perfectly, no rattling. The 510 fitting stands about 0.75mm proud of the unit so there is plenty of airflow at the base of my ‘Vivi-Nova 2.5’. I did have to buy a ‘510 to eGo Adaptor’ (found on this site) so I could use my ‘Ce4 Clearomisiers’.
This unit has an 8 option menu system, which, after 20mins of exploring is really easy to follow, once you know what it’s asking so you can fine tune your vaping experience. The 8th menu option is the ‘RMS or MEAN’ mode which isn’t mentioned in the ‘User Guide’ that came with my unit.
This unit is now my main vaping device, I’ve found my sweet spot setting and getting a very consistent vape. Luv in it!
If would of liked the option to buy the ZMAX in Stainless Steel, but up-to-date there isn’t one.
I can’t find anything bad to say about it as others have. Maybe time will tell.
Overall, I’m happy with my ZMAX.

- A love-hate relationshipReview by Rustie
The first thing I noticed was the plastic screen cover was loose constantly moving in and slightly popping out every time I changed the battery.
The screw cap spring was also very loose easily falling out of it's socket.
And as plenty of people already mentioned the top 510 connection part also falling out exposing the wires and PCB of the device. The actual 510 positive pin connection is also causing contact problems as it driven all the way down the bottom with every atomizer the you attach.
The button also misfires constantly, you need to apply more pressure and find which side to try and focus pressing on, very frustrating indeed but a bit of lubricant fixed that.
I have learned how to live with this device, I like it's design visually and it performs really really well now that I have slightly modified it to my liking. Would I buy it again? That's a hard one considering the price. If you are not creative with your hands you might regret buying this device because of the little flaws that it has/had.

- Poor DurabilityReview by Edwin
I managed to disassemble the whole unit to analyse why it had happened. The top part that is attached to the body is very poorly made - the metal is so thin and elastic it's no surprise it broke with very little pressure. I managed to re-attach the broken piece to the top part with the help of soldering-iron and special acid used for solder to stick to metal at lower temperatures. As a result, the head moved slightly deeper in the top part and I have difficulties making atomizer work. So I had to screw a tiny hole in the top part, which now acts as an air vent :) Nonetheless, the atomizer won't work sometimes unless I press it a bit to the side to make a better contact.
To cut the long story short. When this device works - it gives a good vape, but would I buy it again for a premium price as it stands now at 99 quid? Hell, no. With such a poor choice of metal used and such a poor durability it should cost not more than 40.
I hope I will find another alternative until this device breaks completely. For those liking VW mode, I suggest you rather look for Joye eVic, which is most likely my next buy. (Posted on 12/02/2013)
- Love the zmaxReview by Justin
- Good features, bad built qualityReview by Chris
Within a couple of weeks the screen broke, after picking it up with my watch in the morning, the winder popped a hole in the screen cover. It's made out of some really brittle poor quality plastic.
After about a month the chrome started showing slight signs of wearing through to the copper. Now it's very coppery.
The final nail in the coffin came when the top separated from the main tube, exposing the wires, after I'd leaned over with it in my pocket. The joint in question is just a press fit, with approximately 3mm of overlap. One disturbed this joint falls apart if you look at it in the wrong way. And eventually (today 18/1/2013) one of the wires broke off the PCB. 3 months old.

Questions on ZMAX - VW & VV Mod - V2 RMS
- From cozzy at 09/12/2012 13:41
- From Paul at 25/01/2013 16:00
- Hi there
Following on from the remarks by 'Chris' relating to his experience of the ZMAX. Have the shortcomings he mentioned been addressed in the latest model? i.e. The overall finish quality and plating, the brittle screen display and the poor connection to the main body? And are there any other improvements to note?
- Hi Paul,
The Zmax V2 is definitely better made than the Version 1.
Some little issues with the hardware were fixed and should not appear again.
